We are pleased to announce that as of today we have released an app update that supports restaurants that are open during COVID-19. For the first time ever, users can find restaurants that are currently open for takeout and delivery based on your dietary needs and allergies. This will help those that struggle to navigate through other platforms that don’t have vital dietary information.

During the COVID-19 crisis, people who have issues ordering at restaurants are facing even more difficulties. Popular delivery apps lack the dietary information that those with allergies or restrictions need. In addition, it’s a struggle to find restaurants that are still open during this time. With the latest version of the Honeycomb app, users can browse through a curated list of restaurants that offer takeout and delivery dishes suitable to their diet. Users can customize their account with nine preset diets and twenty-nine common allergies. The app links directly to Doordash, SkiptheDishes and UberEats, so users can get their cravings right away.

All the restaurants featured in the app have diet-friendly options, use local ingredients, and have reviews above 3.5 stars. We’ve included a huge range of cuisines, prices, and neighbourhoods in Greater Vancouver. The overarching feature of these restaurants is that they are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions and make modifications.

The app includes the Gluten-Free, Celiac, Keto, Vegan, Paleo, Low-FODMAP, Kosher, Halal and Dairy-Free diets. There is also a severity index to define how serious allergies are - Preference vs Mild Intolerance vs Severe Allergy, so that users receive safer recommendations. The update is currently available on iOS, with an Android + Web update to follow shortly.

Honeycomb currently works with major Vancouver restaurants such as Tractor Foods, Virtuous Pie, Nuba, Steamworks, Kokomo, and many others. All of their dietary information is available exclusively on the Honeycomb app.
